As the first of the cavalry for this period, people maybe interested to know that , we plan all horses and riders to be interchangeable, allowing for those that would like to add a few of this type of knight to other units or exchange these horses for armoured ones. The horses themselves are large, as big as those we supply with our 17th Century Cuirassiers for those that already know the range, and have 'trimmed' tack; bells, studs and fringes on the leather work. I have included a few profile shots, to hopefully show how the riders sit, into and on the horses, and to give better perspective of our efforts to make the miniatures correct in all dimensions
Although these Conquistadors are not strictly Knights (Gent D'armes), they show fairly clearly the direction that we are working towards, for the fully armoured Cavalry for this earlier period (1495 - 1530), our dolly-bases sculpting method will allow; huge variation and subtlety of difference between nominal National types whether; Spanish, Italian, French, German or Burgundian.
All thes excellent new minis have been sculpted Nick Collier.
Finally it should be noted that although these mark the beginning of the mounted miniatures for the 16th Century range, they also mark the end of our 'Flower Wars' Aztec range begun in 2004. Thank you to all the people who have been buying those miniatures for their armies since that time, and although I never say a Wargames range is 'complete', i do feel we have the best-est-fullest, range of 28mm miniatures for that period, on the planet.
Sorry about the state of the photos on this page, the contrast between the green putties used, some of which have already undergone a number of moulding processes, has been quite difficult to capture. (I'm a mould-maker, not a professional photographer) |
