More Stradiots, Jinetes and Elmeti
by pete - Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Three new packs of horsemen on our Workbench feature this weekend, all for our early Great Italian Wars range of miniatures; one packet of Spanish Jinetes with light lances or javelins to accompany the pack we already have in production, one new pack of Albanian Stradiots with side arms, to add variety to the lance armed minis we have on sale, and finally one packet of Italian Elmeti, mercenary heavy cavalry very much in vogue in the early parts of the 16th Century.

Jinets feature in all the Spanish armies of the early 16th Century but by the mid-period they seem to have been replaced by more heavily armed versions not dissimilar to our Conquistador demi-lances. Stradiots were also much used by many of the forces fighting on the Italian mainland in the early 16th Century as well as in Venetian service in the Balkans, but again, they were becoming increasingly armoured as the mid-century period

These new packets will allow us to add Unit Builder packs to our shopping cart, it always seams a bit of a fraud to have these multiple blister items listed when we only have one pack to offer, but now we have more options we can offer this slightly discounted sets on release.

All these excellent 28mm miniatures were sculpted by Mr Nick Collier
