Venetian Militia Archers
by pete - Friday, October 12th, 2012

This section of the workbench is dedicated to the Venetian Militia bowmen, which although the Venetian had started to arm their infantry with mass fire-arms more quickly than other European forces they were still using bowman, both on the main land of Italy and in there Balkan and Mediterranean  colonies well into the 1540’s.

These infantry are depicted in Italian dress and hats with soft shoes, some have very fancy sleeves with elaborate ties which are depicted in the art of the period.

They are armed with re-curved composite bows and long plain hilted sword

These fine 28mm metal miniatures were sculpted by Nick Collier
